5-Minute Homemade Fajita Sauce
This 5-Minute Homemade Fajita Sauce blends fajita seasoning, fresh lime juice, water, neutral oil, and optional brown sugar into a tangy and versatile sauce. It serves well as a marinade for proteins or vegetables, providing a balanced flavor that can be thickened by simmering. The combination of spices with lime juice offers a bright, savory profile suited for fajita dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons fajita seasoning see note
- 4 Tablespoons lime juice fresh
- 4 Tablespoons water
- 2 Tablespoons neutral oil
- 1 Tablespoon brown sugar optional
Instructions
- In a bowl, add all of the ingredients and whisk or stir until completely incorporated together. Or, shake them together in a jar until combined.
- Use as a marinade for proteins or fajita veggies. To thicken for a condiment, simmer for 3-4 minutes, or cook with fajita veggies to coat. If not using immediately, store the sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Notes
- This recipe yields about half a cup of sauce before simmering, suitable for marinades or condiments.
- The fajita seasoning blend combines cumin, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, smoked paprika, black pepper, and kosher salt; adjust to taste if using homemade seasoning.
- You may increase salt or seasoning on your proteins or vegetables separately to enhance overall flavor.
- Store unused sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
