Addictive Daikon Salad (Izakaya Style)

Ingredients

  • ¼ daikon radish
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 70 g canned tuna drained
  • 1 tbsp Japanese style mayonnaise
  • bonito flakes topping
  • shredded sushi nori seaweed "kizami nori" topping
Dressing
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • ½ tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp garlic paste
  • ½ tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 pinch white pepper powder

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice ¼ daikon radish and then cut it into matchsticks.
  2. Place them in a bowl and sprinkle with ½ tsp salt. Massage until evenly covered and sit for 5 minutes to draw out the excess moisture.
  3. Pour all of the dressing ingredients (1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tsp sugar, ½ tbsp toasted sesame oil, ½ tbsp olive oil, ½ tsp lemon juice, ½ tsp garlic paste, ½ tbsp sesame seeds and 1 pinch white pepper powder ) into a small bowl and whisk until smooth.
  4. Once 5 minutes have passed, thoroughly squeeze the daikon to release the water and discard the liquid.
  5. Mix 70 g canned tuna and 1 tbsp Japanese style mayonnaise into the daikon.
  6. Transfer to serving bowls and drizzle with the dressing. Garnish with bonito flakes and shredded sushi nori seaweed "kizami nori" to taste. Enjoy!
