Ingredients
- 1 pound (450 grams) fresh strawberries
- 1/2 cup (100 grams) granulated sugar
- 5 cups (1.15 liters) cold water divided
Optional toppings:
- Lime wedges
- fresh mint
- chopped strawberries
- ice
Instructions
- Hull the strawberries, then cut them into quarters. Place in a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 cup (100 grams) sugar and 1/2 cup (120 milliliters) of the water.
- Cover and refrigerate 1-2 hours.
- Transfer strawberries to blender and puree until smooth.
- Place a large wire sieve over a large bowl and pour in pureed strawberries. Use a spoon to help push liquid through. Discard remaining seeds.
- Stir remaining 4 1/2 cups (1 liter) water into the strained strawberries. Adjust sweetness as desired.
- Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.
- Immediately before serving, add ice, lime wedges, fresh mint, and/or chopped strawberries if desired.
