Ingredients

  • 8 skinless hot dogs
  • 8 hot dog buns (classic, potato, or brioche)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted
  • Hot Dog Toppings (such as mustard, ketchup, relish, onions)

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F for 3 minutes. (Or, follow the preheating recommendations for your specific air fryer model.)
  2. While the air fryer is preheating, remove hot dogs from package. Use a sharp knife to slice the tops of each hot dog at a diagonal, in half-inch increments. Be sure not to slice all the way through; only cut down about a third of the way into the hot dogs.
  3. Place hot dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, with a little bit of room around them for the air to circulate.* Cook for 4-6 minutes, until hot dogs are golden and crisped. Remove hot dogs from the basket.
  4. Brush the insides of the hot dog buns with melted butter. Place a hot dog in each bun, and return them to air fryer basket. Heat for 1-2 minutes, until buns are warmed and toasted.
  5. Remove the hot dogs from the air fryer and serve hot with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • *Depending on your air fryer model, you might need to cook the hot dogs in batches. While I can fit 8 hot dogs in my basket for the initial cook, I can only fit 4 hot dogs at a time once they're in the buns. Adjust as needed for your specific model.

  • Important Note: Air Fryer cooking times can vary by brand, model, and the hot dogs you're using. Keep a close eye on your hot dogs the first time you're making the recipe to ensure that they don't overcook, or add additional time, if needed.
