Air Fryer Orange Chicken

Sweet and tangy but with a hit of heat, this Air Fryer Orange Chicken is a classic take out recipe that you can easily make at home! You won’t believe how crispy this orange chicken is without deep frying!

Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 8 boneless skinless chicken thighs cut into 1 inch cubes
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch or more if needed
For the Sauce
  • 1½ cup orange juice
  • orange zest from 1 orange
  • 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar if you prefer
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce I recommend using low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 3 tbsp minced garlic 
  • 1-2 tsp red chili pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp of cold water

  1. In a bowl, coat the chicken cubes in cornstarch.
  2. Spray the basket with some cooking spray.
  3. Add the chicken in a single layer to your air fryer basket, spray with cooking spray, and air fry at 375F for 11 minutes, shaking the basket at the half way mark. You’ll have to do this in 2 to 3 batches as it won’t all fit at once in your air fryer.
  4. While the chicken is air frying, make your orange sauce by combining all the ingredients but the cornstarch in a saucepan. Bring it to a boil.
  5. Simmer on low for 5 minutes and then add in a cornstarch slurry (mixing 1 tbsp of cornstarch with 1 tbsp of cold water).
  6. Mix until combined and simmer to your desired consistency.
  7. Once the chicken in the air fryer is done, coat the crispy “fried” chicken in the orange sauce.
  8. Serve with your side of choice and garnish.
