Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey not extra lean
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • ¼ cup barbecue sauce optional

Instructions

  1. Gently combine all ingredients in a bowl.
  2. Form into 4 patties, ½" thick. Using your thumb, create a small indent in the patties. Refrigerate 30 minutes
  3. Preheat air fryer to 350°F.
  4. Brush patties with barbecue sauce if using and place in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook 6 minutes. Flip over and cook an additional 6-8 minutes or until cooked through (165°F).
  5. Serve on buns with desired toppings.

Notes

  • Ensure ground turkey reaches 165°F internally for safe consumption.
  • Chill patties before cooking to help them hold their shape and blend flavors.
  • If using extra lean turkey, add some fat such as olive oil or finely chopped bacon for moisture.
  • Use an instant-read thermometer to avoid overcooking and drying out the burgers.
