Air Fryer Turkey Burgers

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds (680g) ground white meat turkey
  • ¼ cup (108g) breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • ½ tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350F / 180C.
  2. Add all of the ingredients to a mixing bowl and combine, being careful not to over-work the mixture.
  3. Shape into 6 individual burger patties and add them to the air fryer basket in batches, making sure they do not touch.
  4. Spray each patty with olive oil or no-calorie cooking spray, and air fry for 5 minutes, then flip over and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. If desired, top each patty with a slice of cheese and cook for 20 seconds more, then remove from the air fryer.
  6. Repeat the process until all your burgers are cooked.

Notes

  • Pro Tip: when cooking meat, always check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer. Ground turkey is considered done and safe to eat when it has reached an internal temperature of 165F / 74C.

  • Just lightly mix all the ingredients. Over-mixing can cause dry, tough burgers.
  • If the meat mixture is sticky, wet your hands before forming the patties.
  • Toss hamburger buns into the air fryer for 40 seconds to make them warm and toasty.
  • Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model, so it is important to always check your food for doneness.
