Apple Galette with Apple Cider Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 Pre-made Pie Crust
  • 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled & thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • turbinado sugar
  • 1 tbsp unsalted cold butter, diced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the apple slices into a bowl and sprinkle the lemon juice on them and gently toss to coat the slices with the juice.
  3. Add the sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg to the apples then toss to coat each slice of apple evenly.
  4. Place the apple slices in a spiral inside the pie crust starting one inch from the edge. 
  5. Fold the edge of the dough over the fruit.
  6. Brush the dough with the beaten egg. Sprinkle the edges with the raw sugar.
  7. Add the diced butter to the top of the apples. 
  8. Place into the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown.  Remove the galette from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

  10. Serve with the warm caramel sauce drizzled on top and with vanilla ice cream, if desired. Enjoy.
