Applesauce Cake

This easy applesauce cake recipe has warm spices, walnuts, and raisins in each decadent bite. Dust with powdered sugar and serve!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup applesauce sweetened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves ground
  • 1/2 cup raisins optional
  • 1/2 cup walnuts optional
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with nonstick baking spray.
  2. Add the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Beat with a hand mixer on medium until creamed.
  3. Add the applesauce and beat until incorporated.
  4. Add in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves. Beat on medium just until combined.
  5. Fold in the walnuts and raisins.
  6. Pour the batter into your prepared dish and spread out evenly with an offset spatula.
  7. Place in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean or with crumbs.
  8. Let cool completely at room temperature.
  9. Just before serving, sprinkle with the powdered sugar. Cut and serve!
