Ingredients
- 2 cups instant oats (not instant)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- ¼ teaspoon clove powder
- 2 cup milk (whole or skim) (use a substitute if you wish)
- 2 tablespoons salted butter optional
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (freshly-grated)
- 1 banana sliced
Instructions
1. Combine
- In a medium pot or saucepan, combine oatmeal, salt, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, 2 cups of water, and milk.

2. Cooking oats
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Stir constantly, reducing the liquids until you obtain a soft porridge. Taste, and add more sugar to taste if you find it necessary. Stir in the butter to combine with the oatmeal mix.
3. Serving
- Remove from the heat. Serve the oatmeal in individual bowls, and sprinkle with nutmeg.Garnish with banana slices and serve.
Notes
- Use soy or almond milk for a lactose-intolerant-friendly and vegan version.
