Bagel Toast ~ whether it's a Game Day bagel bar for a crowd, or a quick snack for one, these bagel toasts are hearty, healthy, and yummy.

Ingredients

  • 8 bagel allow 1/2 per person for snacks, and 1 per person for a more substantial meal
creamy base layer, your choice
  • 8 ounces cream cheese low fat or regular
  • 1 cup hummus
  • 1 cup guacamole
  • 1 cup olive tapenade
toppings, your choice
  • deli meat turkey, ham, roast beef, or Italian cold cuts, thinly sliced
  • smoked salmon
  • apple or pears, sliced
  • cucumbers sliced or radishes
  • baby greens or microgreens
  • sprouts
  • cherry tomato
  • olive
  • red onion thinly sliced
  • hot pepper thin slices
  • fresh herbs dill, thyme and parsley, like basil
  • berries

Instructions

  1. Cut the bagels in half with a sharp serrated bread knife. To toast or not is up to you, I don't.
  2. Spread each half generously with a base layer.
  3. Top with one to three toppings.
  4. If you want to get a head start, prep your toppings ahead of time and refrigerate. Assemble the bagels just before serving. If you like you can set everything out on a table and let people assemble their own.
