Ingredients

Donuts:
  • 1 cup of flour
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp butter melted
Maple-Cinnamon Glaze:
  • 1½ cups of powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp maple extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp maple syrup optional
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Coat the donut baking tray with cooking spray.
  2. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until done.  Remove the bacon and place it on a paper towel to drain the grease.  Chop into crumbles; set aside.
  3. Make the donuts by mixing the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  4. Add the buttermilk, egg, vanilla, and melted butter. Mix until well combined.
  5. Transfer the batter into a large zip-lock bag. Snip off a corner of the bag and pipe the batter evenly into a 6-cup donut pan.
  6. Bake the donuts for 9-10 minutes, or until the dough is set and springy (they won't be golden brown).
  7. Let them sit for 1-2 minutes then place the donuts on a baking rack to cool a bit.
  8. Make the maple glaze by combining the powdered sugar, maple extract, cinnamon, maple syrup (optional), and milk until well combined.
  9. Place some parchment paper under the wire rack.
  10. Glaze the donuts by dipping the top of the cooled donuts in the glaze then return to the wire rack to allow the glaze to set.
  11. Sprinkle the top with bacon crumbles. Enjoy.
