Baked Salmon Recipe
This Baked Salmon Recipe features salmon fillets marinated in a blend of olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, fresh parsley, and dried herbs before baking uncovered at 375°F until flaky. The marinade imparts bright, herbaceous notes and enriches the naturally tender and buttery texture of the salmon. Baking preserves moisture, and cooking with skin on helps protect the flesh from overcooking, producing a delicate, flaky finish. It’s a straightforward method yielding reliably juicy fish.
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon parsley chopped, fresh
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon basil dried
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt with parsley flakes
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease a baking dish and set aside.
- In a medium bowl mix olive oil, lemon juice, parsley, garlic, basil, garlic salt and pepper to create a marinade.
- Place salmon fillets in a greased baking dish. Pour marinade over the salmon and turn to coat all sides, then place salmon skin side down.
- Bake uncovered for 35 minutes, until salmon flakes easily with a fork. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Leave the salmon skin on during baking to protect the fish and retain moisture; the skin can be removed easily after cooking if desired.
- Perfectly cooked salmon is opaque on the outside with a translucent pink center that flakes easily with a fork.
- A white film appearing on the surface indicates overcooking; avoid baking too long for optimal texture.
