Bang Bang Chicken Wonton Tacos Recipe
Chicken Wonton Tacos are Asian - Mexican Fusion Appetizers that are a mash up of Bang Bang Chicken and Chicken Tacos that are served in crispy wonton taco "shells."
Ingredients
Bang Bang Sauce
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 Tablespoon sriracha (or Frank's Hot Sauce)
- 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce (plus 1/4 cup for dipping)
Tangy Coleslaw
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1 lime juiced
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoons garlic minced
- salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons cilantro chopped
- 1 cup red cabbage finely sliced
Chicken Wonton Tacos
- 16 wonton wrappers
- cooking spray
- 2 chicken breast boneless, skinless, diced
- 1 recipe Bang Bang sauce (See above)
- 1 recipe coleslaw See above, tangy
Garnish
- 1/4 cup cilantro chopped
- 4 green onion thinly sliced
Instructions
Make The Bang Bang Sauce
- In a medium mixing bowl, stir together sweet chili sauce, mayonnaise, and sriracha until well combined.
Make The Tangy Coleslaw
- In a large bowl, mix mayonnaise, lime juice, olive oil, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, black pepper, and salt. Add red cabbage and toss to coat.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve with the Chicken Wonton Tacos.
Make The Chicken Wonton Tacos
Prepare the Wonton Wrappers
- Preheat the oven to 375 Degrees F.
- Spray the wonton wrappers with cooking spray, or brush with canola oil.
- Drape the wonton wrappers over the side of a baking dish or over oven-safe taco racks. (Make sure to spray with cooking spray the surface you will drape the wonton wrappers over.)
- Bake the wonton wrappers for 8 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Set aside.
Cook The Chicken
- Add the diced raw chicken to half of the bang bang sauce. Toss to coat.
- Heat a large skillet over medium high heat and saute for 8 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
- Remove the cooked chicken from heat and toss in remaining bang bang sauce.
Assemble the Chicken Wonton Tacos
- Add the cooked chicken in bang bang sauce to the wonton shells. Top with coleslaw.
Garnish The Tacos
- Garnish the tacos with green onions and cilantro. Enjoy!
Notes
- If you find your Bang Bang Sauce is too sweet, you can add more mayonnaise or more Sriracha.
- If you find your Bang Bang Sauce is too spicy, you can add more mayonnaise or more honey.
- To keep the wonton cups crispy and prevent sticking to the surface, be sure to spray with cooking spray the surface that you will drape the wonton wrappers over.
- You can use boneless, skinless chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts, and it will work well in the recipe.
