Bang Bang Shrimp

You are going to love this light and crispy Bang Bang Shrimp copycat from Bonefish grill. The sauce is incredible. We love spicing it up with a little extra Sriracha.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound medium raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8-12 cups Vegetable oil, for frying
Spicy Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 4 teaspoons Sriracha sauce, or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
Breading
  • ½ cup flour
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon dried basil
Egg Mixture
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Combine all spicy sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Cover and set aside.
  2. Combine all breading ingredients in a shallow bowl. Set aside.
  3. Combine beaten egg with milk in a shallow bowl. Set aside.
  4. Bread the shrimp by dipping each in breading, then egg, then breading again. Arrange the coasted shrimp on a plate and pop them into the fridge for at least 20 minutes. This step will help the breading to stick to the shrimp when they are frying.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350 degrees F. Use the amount of oil required by your fryer. When oil is hot, fry shrimp for 2-3 minutes each, or until golden brown. Drain on a rack or prepared plate.
  6. Prepare a rack or a plate with paper towels to drain fried shrimp on. Set aside.
  7. When all the shrimp has been fried, place the shrimp in a large bowl. Spoon about ¼ cup sauce over shrimp and stir gently to coat.

Notes

  • To bake your Bang Bang Shrimp, heat the oven to 350 degrees F. and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Bread shrimp and prepare the sauce as described in the directions. Heat about 1/2 cup oil to 350 degrees F. in a skillet or frying pan. Fry shrimp on each side for 1-2 minutes, until the coating is golden brown. Place on prepared baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes, until shrimp has turned pink.
