Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoons mirin
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated, fresh
  • 1 pound flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • green onion for garnish, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, mirin, sesame oil, and cornstarch until smooth.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet and cook for about 2-4 minutes until browned.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef. Stir well to coat the beef evenly. Adjust sauce seasoning, adding more brown sugar if needed.
  5. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Sprinkle green onions on top when serving.
