Best Blackberry Simple Syrup For Cocktails + Desserts
This blackberry simple syrup tastes like fresh blackberries! It is quick, easy, and so delicious. With just 3 ingredients (+ water) and only 10 minutes, you'll have it finished and cooling. Makes 2 ½ cups.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ c blackberry
- 1 ½ c sugar
- 2 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 ½ c water
Instructions
- Place sugar, blackberries, lemon juice and water in a medium saucepan or pot. Turn heat to medium-high and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to medium-low heat and let simmer for 5 minutes, stirring and pressing on blackberries to release their juice. Turn heat off and let cool until it has cooled enough not to burn you while straining.
- Using a fine mesh sieve or strainer, strain the blackberry simple syrup into a bottle and discard the solids.
- Let fully cool to room temperature. Cover with a lid or bottle stopper and store in the fridge for up to 30 days.
Notes
- You may need to gently stir the syrup to remove seeds from the bottom of the strainer to keep it flowing through. I like to strain the syrup into a large measuring cup first, then pour it into my bottle to keep it tidy.

- If you want to keep it longer, freeze it in 1 oz ice cube trays. Remove the frozen cubes and store in airtight container or bag, removing an oz at a time as needed.
- If you choose to store this at room temperature, it will only last 1 week.
