Ingredients

  • 200 g butter
  • 5 cloves garlic chopped, fresh
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp parsley dried
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp guajillo chile powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt coarse
  • ½ tsp lime powder

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. 1. Start by combining all the spices in a small bowl.
  2. 2. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it's completely melted. Then, add the chopped garlic to your melted butter and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. 3. Add in all the spices. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. 4. Stir everything together until the spices are well incorporated into the butter.
  5. 5. Transfer the butter mixture to a large bowl and let it rest until it cools down. Refrigerate your compound butter for 1-2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together.
  6. 6. Once chilled, place the butter onto a sheet of cling film and shape it into a log. Wrap it tightly and chill it in the fridge for at least an hour.
  7. 7. When you're ready to use your Cajun Butter, simply unwrap the log and slice it into coins. Add a slice to your favorite dishes for an instant flavor boost!

Notes

  • Use Good Quality Butter: The base of your Cajun butter spread is butter, so make sure you're using good quality for the best results. I prefer using unsalted butter so I have control over the saltiness of my Cajun butter.
  • A Little Extra: Add a splash of olive oil to the butter as it melts. This prevents the butter from overcooking and gives a smoother texture to your sauce.
  • Heat Management: Keep an eye on the heat. Keep it at medium-low heat. Too high, and you risk burning the spices; too low, and it won’t blend properly.
  • Let it Soften: Before you start spreading Cajun butter on meat or veggies, let your butter soften to room temperature. It makes it easier to blend everything together smoothly.
