Best Red Sangria Recipe
This red sangria blends red wine with brandy and citrus fruits, such as apples, oranges, and lemon, creating a refreshing and fruity beverage. The sliced fruit softens while soaking, imparting a subtly sweet and tangy flavor throughout. Adding maple syrup or your choice of sweetener and optionally sparkling water adjusts the sweetness and effervescence to preference. Serving chilled over ice with fruit garnish makes it a cool, fruity drink suitable for relaxing or casual gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 ml red wine
- ½ cup brandy
- 1 apple sliced
- 2 orange one sliced and one juiced
- 1 lemon sliced
- maple syrup optional, or honey, or other sweetener of choice
- sparkling water optional
- orange garnish with extra slices
Instructions
- Dice the apple, orange, and lemon into small pieces. Make sure to leave the peels on and toss them into the pitcher along with the orange juice.
- Pour the wine, brandy and any sweetener into the pitcher. Then stir everything together until it's all combined. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight. The longer it sits, the more time the flavors can meld together.
- Serve this in individual glasses over ice. Then top with sparkling water if you'd like!
Notes
- Cut fruit into small pieces, including quartered citrus slices, for easy serving and garnish.
- Refrigerate sangria for several hours or overnight to allow flavors to fully develop.
- Add sparkling water just before serving to retain effervescence.
