Best Strawberry Margarita
The Best Strawberry Margarita blends freshly squeezed lime and orange juice with sugar, tequila, and sliced strawberries to create a frozen cocktail balanced between sweet and tart. The mixture is blended with ice to a smooth consistency, with optional glass rimming for added flavor. This drink suits warm weather and social occasions where a fruity, icy margarita is desired.
Ingredients
- 1 cup lime juice freshly squeezed
- 3 tablespoons sugar (or agave)
- 1/3 cup orange juice freshly squeezed
- 10 to 12 strawberries sliced
- 6 ounces tequila
- 1-2 cups ice cubes
- salt optional, or coarse sugar, for rimming glasses
Instructions
- Heat lime juice and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Place lime mixture, orange juice, strawberries, tequila and 1 cup of ice in a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Add more ice and blend, as desired.
- Dip rim of glasses into extra lime juice and then into salt or sugar, if desired.
Notes
- Consume the frozen margarita immediately as it tends to melt quickly.
- Leftover margarita can be frozen in ice cube trays, then stored in a freezer-safe container for later use.
- To use frozen margarita cubes, blend them with additional orange juice for fresh servings.
- The recipe can be customized with more fruit, ice, or sugar according to taste preferences.
- Agave syrup can be used as a substitute for sugar.
