Blackberry Lavender Soda Recipe
Blackberry Lavender Soda is a homemade flavored soda featuring a syrup made by simmering blackberries, dried lavender, and sugar. The syrup is strained and combined with soda water to create a floral, fruity beverage. This recipe offers a way to craft a fragrant and refreshing soda using natural ingredients, with control over sweetness and aroma.
Ingredients
- 2 cups blackberry
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon lavender dried flowers
Instructions
- In a medium pot, combine the blackberries, water, sugar, and lavender. Bring to a boil over high heat, and stir to dissolve the sugar.
- Reduce the heat to medium or medium-low and simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Mash the berries with a spoon then continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
- Remove the pot from the heat and let the syrup cool slightly. Use a fine-mesh sieve to strain the berries and lavender from the syrup, making sure to press the berries against the strainer to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the blueberries and lavender. Refrigerate the syrup in a covered container for up to 5 days.
- Add ¼ cup of the blackberry lavender syrup to a glass with ice then add 1 cup of plain soda water.
Notes
- This recipe produces about 1 cup of syrup; use approximately 1/4 cup syrup per cup of soda water for serving.
- The syrup can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- Fresh blackberries and dried lavender flowers provide the key flavors; discard solids after straining for a smooth syrup.
- Adjust syrup quantity in soda to control sweetness and aroma intensity.
