Blackberry Simple Syrup
This Blackberry Simple Syrup blends fresh blackberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice cooked together to extract berry flavor. The cooked mixture is mashed and then strained to produce a smooth, richly flavored syrup. It's stored refrigerated and used to sweeten drinks or desserts with fresh blackberry essence and balanced acidity from lemon juice.
Ingredients
- 2 cups blackberry fresh
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine the blackberries, water, sugar, and lemon juice in a large saucepan over medium-high heat.
- Bring to a boil and mash the berries with a potato masher.
- Turn the stove off and allow the flavors to mingle for 10 minutes.
- Pour the mixture through a very fine strainer into a glass jar.
- Store sealed with an airtight lid in the refrigerator. Enjoy.
