Blue Cheese and Bacon Pizza

Change up your Friday night pizza with this Blue Cheese and Bacon Pizza. Pizza crust is topped with an easy béchamel sauce, bacon and blue cheese for a gourmet pizza at home.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • salt pepper and freshly ground nutmeg, to taste
  • 1 lb pizza dough
  • 1/2 lb Bacon cooked and chopped
  • 2/3 cup blue cheese

  1. Place a pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 475-500ºF. Let the stone heat for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, make the béchamel. Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the flour and whisk, making sure there are no clumps. Allow the mixture to cook for at least 1 minute. Whisk in the milk and season to taste with salt, pepper and a bit of freshly grated nutmeg. Continue to cook until slightly thickened.
  3. Roll the pizza dough on a sheet of parchment paper. Spread the béchamel evenly over the pizza. Top with the bacon and the blue cheese. Transfer to the oven and bake until the crust is cooked, 8-10 minutes.
