For the meat:
  • 1 1/2 lbs beef (Any cut you prefer or have on hand—about 75%frozen, but not rock hard)

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano dried
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary dried
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

  • 6 oz cremini mushrooms thinly sliced
For the sandwiches:
  • 2 medium baguette
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese dip store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbled
  • 1 cup arugula
  • 3 figs thinly sliced, purple
To serve:
  • blue cheese garlic dip
  • Balsamic reduction ( from my recipe for rainbow power grilled halloumi salad)

Notes

  • My fabulous tip for you to cook your meat perfectly no matter what type of cut it is? Freeze your piece of meat until it’s about 75% frozen—so not rock hard, but definitely hard. Then take your nice sharp knife and slice the meat paper-thin slices. I prefer slicing thin slices and then cutting them up into about 2 inches by 1-inch strips.
  • For this Blue Cheese Philly Steak recipe, you do not need to buy the most expensive steak. Even with a cheaper cut of meat this Philly Steak Sandwich still has an AMAZING steak flavor.
  • Let's face it - fresh figs are not widely available! I’ve made this Blue Cheese Philly Steak Sandwich recipe many times before sans figs and they were still so so so GOOD! It’s just that I have a soft spot for figs ;)
