Blue Margarita Recipe

Mix up a margarita that's as azure-hued as the Caribbean Sea! This blue margarita offers the same refreshing tang and zesty kick as a classic margarita, but adds a summery, bitter-sweet-citrus twist, courtesy of blue curaçao. It's as fresh and delicious as it is eye-catching!

Ingredients

  • salt for rimming the glass - see notes
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce lime juice fresh is best!
  • ½ ounce blue curacao
  • ½ ounce simple syrup see notes
  • Lime wedge or wheel for garnish

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Place the salt on a small plate and wet the rim of a glass with a lime wedge. Dip the rim into salt.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker or mason jar half full with ice. Add the tequila, lime juice, blue curaçao, and simple syrup and stir until the cocktail is cold.
  3. Pour your blue margarita into the salt-rimmed glass and garnish with a lime wedge or wheel.

Notes

  • Note 1: To make simple syrup, heat 1 part sugar or honey with 2 parts water until the sugar dissolves. For example, 1 tablespoon of sugar + 2 tablespoons water. Or 1 cup of sugar + 2 cups of water.
  • Note 2: If you'd like an extra sweet drink, add more simple syrup. You can also rim the glass with sugar instead of salt.
