Blueberry Lemonade
Blueberry Lemonade combines fresh blueberries and lemon slices with sugar, mint leaves, and water or carbonated water to create a refreshing homemade beverage. The berries and lemon are muddled to release their flavors, then mixed with ice and lemon juice for a balanced tart and sweet drink. This lemonade is chilled before serving, making it a cool option for warm weather or any time you want a fruity, lightly sweetened drink.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup blueberries or more, fresh
- 1 lemon thinly sliced, whole
- 3 to 4 tablespoons sugar less or more to preference or sugar subs/alternatives
- 5 leaves mint
- 2 cups ice
- 3 cups water or carbonated water
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
- To a mason jar or bowl, add the blueberries, 2-3 slices of lemon, sugar and 2 leaves of mint and mash it or muddle until most of the berries are mashed
- If you used a bowl to muddle, transfer the muddled berries to a mason jar or a small jar. Add the ice, lemon juice and remaining mint to the jar. Close the lid, Mix and shake until sugar dissolves. Transfer this blueberry mixture to the serving jug. Add water or seltzer water and lemon slices.
- Let the berry mix set a little bit, then taste and adjust flavor by adding more sugar if needed. I also usually like to add a pinch of salt to bring out the sweetness. Chill and serve.
- Store; refrigerate until ready to serve. Store refrigerated for upto 2 days.
