Ingredients

For the Blueberry Simple Syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
For the Margarita
  • 2 ounces blanco or “silver” tequila
  • 1½ ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1½ ounces orange liqueur
  • 2 ounces prepared blueberry simple syrup

Instructions

Make the Blueberry Simple Syrup
    Cup of Yum
  1. Add the water, granulated sugar, and blueberries to a small saucepan set over medium heat. Bring the syrup to a boil and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the sugar has dissolved and the blueberries have burst. Mash the berries a bit, to release more of their flavor and color.
  2. Remove syrup from the heat and pour it through a fine mesh sieve to remove large chunks of blueberries. Press on the solids with a wooden spoon to get all the juices out.
  3. Allow syrup to cool completely and then transfer it to an airtight container. Store in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Make the Margarita
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker (or mason jar) with ice. Add the tequila, lime juice, triple sec, and blueberry syrup. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds, until well chilled and perfectly diluted.
  2. Strain into a rocks glass filled with ice and garnish with fresh lime and blueberries.
