Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups broccoli florets steamed

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until it forms a smooth paste.
  3. Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens.
  4. Lower the heat and add the shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper, stirring until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.
  5. Pour the warm cheese sauce over the steamed broccoli and serve immediately.
