Buffalo Dipping Sauce

How to prepare classic buffalo dipping sauce for chicken wings.

Course: Condiments
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ½ cup hot sauce like Frank's RedHot
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional for extra heat
  • salt to taste

Instructions

Melt the Butter
    Cup of Yum
  1. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. The butter adds richness to the sauce and helps balance its acidity.
Add the Hot Sauce and Seasonings
  1. Once the butter is melted, stir in the hot sauce, white vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  2. The hot sauce provides the signature tangy heat, while the vinegar and Worcestershire sauce add depth and brightness to the flavor. Garlic adds an aromatic touch.
Simmer the Sauce
  1. Let the sauce simmer over low heat for 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Stir occasionally to ensure the ingredients are well incorporated.
Taste and Adjust
  1. Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary. If you prefer a milder sauce, add a bit more melted butter. Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or extra hot sauce for more heat.
Serve Warm
  1. Once the sauce is ready, transfer it to a serving dish. Serve it warm as a dipping sauce alongside your air fryer chicken wings, or toss the wings in the sauce for a classic buffalo flavor.

Notes

  • Make It Creamy: Whisk in 1-2 tablespoons of ranch or blue cheese dressing to the sauce for a creamier texture.
  • Storage: Any leftover buffalo sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat gently before serving.
  • This buffalo dipping sauce perfectly blends buttery richness and spicy heat, making it an ideal companion for your crispy air fryer wings. Enjoy!
