Burger Bowl Recipe
The Burger Bowl Recipe reimagines a traditional cheeseburger into a layered bowl featuring seasoned ground beef, crispy fries, fresh romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, shredded cheddar, and a homemade Big Mac-style sauce. Cooking the fries separately and assembling all components creates a combination of textures and flavors reminiscent of a delivered burger but in bowl form. The sauce ties the elements together with tangy and creamy notes.
Ingredients
Meat
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup red onion diced
- 1 lbs ground beef 90-96% lean, lean
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Big Mac Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise light
- ¼ cup pickle juice
- ¼ cup dill pickle finely diced
- 2 tbsp white onion finely diced
- 3 tbsp ketchup
- ½ tbsp mustard
- ½ tsp salt
- pinch black pepper
Bowls
- 2 cups French Fries Idaho Potato shoestring fries, frozen
- 10 oz romaine lettuce
- 7 oz Roma tomatoes diced
- ½ cup white onion diced
- 1 cup pickles chopped
- 1 cup cheddar cheese thick cut, shredded
Instructions
- Start by cooking the fries according to bag instructions in the method that works best for you. I like to cook in my air fryer because they get extra crispy with spray with avocado oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet to medium-high heat with a little oil. Once heated, add the ground beef and break up with a meat masher. Add the diced white onion and sprinkle with salt.
- After beef is halfway cooked, add the remaining seasonings: onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce
- While the fries and ground meat cook, prepare the other ingredients for the salad. Dice pickles, white onion, tomatoes, lettuce (if needed).
- In a pyrex measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the ingredients for the Special Sauce.
- Build the cheeseburger bowl: lettuce, meat, cheese, onions, tomatoes, pickles, fries and a drizzle of homemade burger sauce. Enjoy!
Notes
- When storing leftovers, keep cooked fries and ground beef in separate containers from the assembled salad and sauce to maintain texture and allow reheating.
- Reheat fries and beef separately before assembling with the salad and sauce for a fresh eating experience.
