Candied Bacon

You don't need to go to a fancy brunch restaurant to be able to enjoy this sweet and salty snack.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch garlic powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch kosher salt
  • 2 pinches cayenne pepper optional
  • 12 lices thick-cut bacon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line foil on a baking sheet and place a wire rack on top.
  2. Mix brown sugar, black pepper, garlic powder, cinnamon, salt, and (if using) cayenne pepper.
  3. Press each bacon strip into the sugar mixture to coat evenly on both sides, then place on the wire rack.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-25 minutes or until the bacon is crisp and the sugar is caramelized (cooking time will vary depending on bacon thickness).
  5. Remove from oven and let the bacon cool on the rack for 10 minutes to crisp up further.
