Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup butter melted, unsalted
  • 2 apple peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Topping:
  • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar , packed
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups water hot

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spread melted butter and sliced apples over a 9x13 baking pan.
  3. In a large bowl whisk together the applesauce, milk, vanilla, and sugar until mostly dissolved.
  4. Add in the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, then whisk until just combined and no dry streaks remain.
  5. Spoon batter over the butter and apples carefully.
  6. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle it over the batter.
  7. Gently pour the water on top.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes.
