Carbonara Shrimp Alfredo

Carbonara inspired Shrimp Alfredo is a restaurant-quality shrimp recipe made right at home in less than 10 minutes. Crispy bacon, juicy shrimp in a delectable creamy sauce! It doesn't get any easier!

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 4 oz Bacon diced
  • 1 small onion
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 pound Shrimp tails on or off
  • 1 ¼ cups heavy cream half and half or evaporated milk
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese fresh grated
  • 1 pinch salt to taste
  • 1 pinch pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat oil a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the bacon until crispy. Drain off some excess fat, keeping about 1 teaspoons worth in the pan. Add the onion and garlic and fry until onion is transparent (about 1 minute). 
  2. Reduce heat to low. Add shrimp and let cook for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally. 
  3. Pour in half and half (or cream) and add in parmesan cheese. Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer for 1 minute. Season with a little salt and pepper to your taste and let cook until the parmesan cheese has melted, the shrimp are cooked through and the sauce has thickened slightly.
  4. Top with parsley, taste test sauce and adjust salt and pepper, if needed.
  5. Serve over pasta, rice, steamed veg, mashed potatoes, cauliflower rice or zucchini noodles.

Notes

  • Tip: Taste test before adding salt and after adding bacon as the mixture may already be salty enough.
