Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 10 tbsp unsalted butter frozen or very cold
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1 1/3 cups buttermilk very cold

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F. In a large bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  2. Using the large side of the grater, grate the frozen butter into the dry ingredients.
  3. Add the grated cheese and the cold buttermilk. Use a spatula to stir together the ingredients, working quickly but gently.
  4. Scoop the dough onto a floured surface. Fold the dough over itself a few times to form a cohesive ball. It should be crumbly and flaky. Roll out the dough to a 1 1/2 inch thickness. Cut out 3 inch sized biscuits using a biscuit cutter.
  5. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake them for 15 minutes, or until they are golden brown. Enjoy!
