Ingredients
- 2 lb. lean ground beef I used 93/7*
- 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce (30g)
- 1 Tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp each salt & black pepper
- 1 medium yellow onion (210g) diced
- 6 lices American cheese
- 12 hawaiian sweet rolls
- 2 Tbsp butter (30g) melted
- 1 Tbsp sesame seeds
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- Mix together the beef, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Press down into an even flat layer in a greased 9x13-inch dish.
- Bake for 20 minutes. When done, drain the liquid and set the cooked beef aside.
- Meanwhile, make the caramelized onions. Spray a medium-sized skillet with cooking spray and set to medium heat. Add the onions; spray the tops of the onions with cooking spray and sprinkle with salt. Cook, stirring frequently, until starting to brown. Add a tablespoon of water and stir to deglaze the pan and continue cooking. Repeat this step 1-2 times until onions are browned and cooked to liking.
- Slice the rolls in half horizontally. Place the bottom half in the same baking dish (wipe down with a paper towel and spray with cooking spray first). Place the cooked beef on top of the bottom rolls then top with the caramelized onions and cheese, and then the top rolls.
- Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle the sesame seeds on top. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and buns are toasted to liking.
- Slice into 12 individual sliders, then serve and enjoy!

Notes
- *Using 96/4 ground beef instead of 93/7 brings the fat down by 2g per slider (carbs and protein stay the same)

- Helpful Tips:
- To prepare ahead of time: follow recipe instructions through step 5. Then cover and refrigerated until ready to bake. Remove from fridge, brush with butter, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake as directed. If baking from chilled, add an extra 2-3 minutes or until hot and the cheese is melted.
- To reheat sliders: microwave each slider uncovered 15-20 seconds or just until the beef is heated through and cheese is melted.
- Stick with lean ground beef to help avoid excess liquid that will make the buns soggy.
- Drain the excess fat and liquid released from the beef before adding to the bottom half of the rolls so you don’t end up with soggy buns.
- Apply the sesame seeds as soon as you brush on the butter and they will stick better to the buns.
- Bake uncovered so the rolls don’t sweat and become soggy.
