Cherry Danish

Combining the sweetness of cherries with the flakiness of puff pastry - all you need is one bite of this delicious cherry cream cheese danish, and your taste buds will be singing! Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon flour coarse
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 4 ounces cream cheese
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF.
  2. Slice the puff pastry crust into 6 even strips.
  3. Twist the strips and then roll them in a swirl pattern on a sheet tray.
  4. Combine the cherries, flour, cinnmamon, and salt. Set aside.
  5. Combine cream cheese, sugar, and lemon juice.
  6. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the cream cheese mixture evenly between the puff pastry swrils.
  7. Spoon the cherry mixture over the cream cheese.
  8. Whisk together the water and egg to create an egg wash.
  9. Brush the pastry with the egg wash.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
