Ingredients

  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 ¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • 3 cups quick oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 12 ounces chocolate chips
Optional mix-ins
  • raisins

  • M&M's
  • Mini peanut butter cups
  • butterscotch chips
  • white chocolate chips
  • peanut butter chips
  • dried cranberries

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Blend shortening, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, and milk together until creamy.
  2. Add quick oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Mix at low speed just until blended.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips.
  5. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
  7. Optional: We sometimes add different extras to the cookie base, milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and toasted coconut are all very yummy.
