Ingredients
- ¾ cup shortening
- 1 ¼ cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
- ⅓ cup milk
- 3 cups quick oats
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- 12 ounces chocolate chips
Optional mix-ins

- Mini peanut butter cups
- butterscotch chips

- dried cranberries
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Blend shortening, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, and milk together until creamy.
- Add quick oats, flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Mix at low speed just until blended.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded tablespoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Optional: We sometimes add different extras to the cookie base, milk chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and toasted coconut are all very yummy.
