Chicken Hinalang (Halang-halang na Manok)

Spicy chicken soup with chayote and bell peppers.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. chicken cut into serving pieces
  • 1 piece Knorr Chicken Cube
  • 1 piece red bell pepper Julienne
  • 1 piece chayote sliced
  • 10 pieces Thai Chili pepper chopped
  • 1 bunch lemongrass
  • 1 bunch  green onion  cut in 3-inch pieces
  • 1 cup hot pepper leaves
  • 1 piece red onion sliced
  • 4 thumbs  ginger crushed
  • 8 cloves garlic crushed
  • 2 quarts water
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine chicken, soy sauce, and vinegar. Mix well. Let it stay for 10 minutes.
  2. Sauté garlic, onion, and ginger.
  3. Add marinated chicken once onion softens. Continue sautéing until chicken for 5 minutes.
  4. Pour 1 ½ quarts water into the cooking pot. Let boil.
  5. Add Knorr Chicken Cube and lemongrass. Cover and cook in low heat for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove lemongrass. Add chili pepper and sayote. Cook for 7 minutes.
  7. Put-in bell pepper, hot pepper leaves, and green onions. Continue cooking for 5 minutes.
  8. Season with salt and ground black pepper.
  9. Serve hot with rice. Share and enjoy!
