Chicken Lettuce Wraps
Chicken Lettuce Wraps combine ground chicken cooked with vegetables and a flavorful homemade sauce, wrapped in fresh butter lettuce leaves. The filling includes garlic, onion, shredded carrot, zucchini, and is enhanced with a sauce of sesame oil, vinegar, soy sauce, and honey, providing a balanced savory and slightly sweet profile. The crisp lettuce adds a refreshing crunch and lightness, making the wraps a satisfying appetizer or light meal.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 large garlic grated, cloves
- 1.25 lbs. ground chicken or turkey
- 1 small zucchini diced
- 1/2 cup carrot shredded
- salt to taste
for the sauce-
- 1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon seasoned rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 3/4 cup bean sprout
- 3 scallions chopped
- 1/2 cup cashews toasted, chopped
- cilantro for garnish
- butter lettuce for serving, leaves
Instructions
- Preheat large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add in olive oil, onions and garlic. Cook until softened, 3 minutes. Add in ground chicken, zucchini, carrot, salt and pepper. As the meat cooks, break it apart into crumbles.
- While the meat is cooking, stir all ingredients for the sauce together in a small bowl.
- Once chicken is thoroughly cooked, pour in sauce and cover to simmer 5-7 minutes.
- Right before serving, stir in bean sprouts, scallions, cashews and cilantro. Scoop into butter lettuce cups and serve.
