Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • 1 yellow onion diced, medium
  • 14.5 ounces diced tomatoes drained, canned
  • 12 ounces light beer
  • 1 cup beef broth low-sodium
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin ground
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 pound frozen fries baked according to package instructions
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat a large pot over medium heat. Cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onions are translucent, about 7-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the diced tomatoes, light beer, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, black pepper, and kosher salt. Bring the mixture to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until thickened, about 45-50 minutes.
  3. While the chili simmers, bake the frozen fries according to the package instructions until they are crispy and golden brown.
  4. To assemble, place the baked fries on a serving platter, spoon the hot chili over the fries, and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. The residual heat from the chili should melt the cheese. Serve immediately.
