Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings tips removed, drumettes and flats separated
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Shaoxing wine or dry sherry
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger grated, piece
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • sesame seeds for garnish
  • green onions thinly sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, Shaoxing wine, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey, five-spice powder, white pepper, and salt.
  2. Add chicken wings to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  4. Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy, turning once halfway through cooking.
  5. Remove wings from oven and transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.
