Ingredients
- 1/2 white onion diced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tablespoon light extra virgin olive oil
- 6 ounces tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1-2 in chipotle peppers adobe sauce roughly chopped (depends on hot you like it)
- 1-2 teaspoons additional adobe sauce optional
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- In medium sauce pot, combine onion, garlic and light extra virgin olive oil. Cook over medium heat until onions are soft and opaque.
- Add remaining ingredients, bring to a low simmer. Continue to heat for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and using a stick blender, blend until smooth. If you do not have a stick blender, transfer to a food processor and blend until smooth.
