Chocolate Buttermilk Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 9 in premade deep-dish pie shell
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • ¼ C Dark Hershey Cocoa Powder
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
Chocolate Ganache ingredients
  • 1 C semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 C mini chocolate chips
  • Fresh Chocolate whipped cream for garnish

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl till creamy.
  3. Add flour, cocoa powder, salt, and eggs. Beat till smooth. Add buttermilk, lemon
  4. juice, and vanilla and blend well. (Mixture may appear curdled.)
  5. Pour filling into a 9" pie crust. I like to use a deep dish.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Allow cooling completely on the counter.
  8. Place into the fridge overnight.
  9. Using a small pot, bring the heavy cream to a boil.
  10. Pour over the chocolate chips in a medium bowl and let sit for 1 minute.
  11. Whisk until smooth.
  12. Spread evenly onto the top of the buttermilk pie
  13. Pipe dollops of the whipped cream onto the edge of the pie.
  14. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips.
  15. Chill for an hour before enjoying it!
