Chocolate Mug Cake

This chocolate mug cake is so quick and easy! It takes less than 5 minutes total. This homemade mini cake is soft, fluffy, moist and rich! It has a strong chocoalte flavor. There are only a few pantry staple ingredints needed for this perfect little dessert!

Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp whole wheat flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp granulated sugar or coconut sugar
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • pinch salt sea salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil, melted
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk regular or dairy-free
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips sugar free

Instructions

  1. First, lightly spray a mug with nonstick spray.
  2. In the mug, combine all ingredients except milk and chocolate chips. Stir tocombine.
  3. Add in milk and chocolate chips. Stir together.
  4. Microwave for 60 to 90 seconds. Stop and check after 60 seconds. Microwave in 10 second increments after that until cake is just barely set in the middle.
  5. Very carefully remove mug cake from microwave using oven mitts.
  6. Finally, add more chocolate chips on top if desired!

  • For gluten-free, use gluten-free 1 to 1 flour.  Bob's Red Mill and King Arthur Flour are great options.
  • Depending on your microwave, the cooking time may vary.  Start with 60 seconds.  Add more time as needed.
  • Be very careful handling the mug or ramekin.  It is very hot.
  • Eat soon after making.  It is best served fresh and warm.
  • Use whole wheat flour, coconut sugar, and sugar-free chocolate to follow the real food ideas.
