Christmas Breakfast Casserole
Christmas Breakfast Casserole is the ultimate make-ahead dish, perfect for busy mornings!
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground pork sausage
- 6 egg large
- 1 cup milk whole
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder dry
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 6 lices bread cubed, day-old
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded, sharp
Instructions
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish and evenly spread the bread cubes at the bottom.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Drain and spread over the bread cubes.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, dry mustard, salt, and pepper. Stir in the cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over the sausage and bread in the baking dish. Press down with a fork to ensure the bread soaks up the egg mixture.
- Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight, or at least 2 hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake covered for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden and the center is set.
- Let the casserole sit for 10 minutes before serving.
