Ingredients
- 48 mini pretzels
- 12 soft caramels
- 1 1/4 Cup green candy melts see notes for colors
- Red Heart Shaped Sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Unwrap the caramels and cut them in half.
- Lay 24 of the pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet. Add a caramel piece to the top of each pretzel.
- Place the pan in the oven for about 5 minutes or until caramels are softened.
- Remove from the pan from the oven. Quickly press the remaining pretzels into the caramel.Allow the pretzels to cool completely.
- Place the candy melts in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave the candy melts at fifty percent power for 30 seconds to a minute at a time. Keep heating in 30 second intervals and stirring until the candy melts are smooth.
- Dip the pretzels in the candy melts to cover about two-thirds of each pretzel candy. Place the pretzel back on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Add a heart-shaped sprinkle to each pretzel while the candy melts are still warm. Let cool and enjoy!
Cup of Yum
Notes
- I used 1 cup of the Wilton vibrant green candy melts and 1/4 cup of the Wilton Green candy melts (sometimes called Dark Green) mixing the two colors together. This gave me the perfect Grinch green color. Any green candy melts can work in this recipe though. Candy melts can be found in the cake decorating section of most craft stores like Michael's and Hobby Lobby. They are also found in grocery stores sometimes in the seasonal section, but this can vary from store to store.
- If your candy melt chocolate seems too thick when you go to dip the pretzels, you can thin it with either shortening or coconut oil. Add shortening or coconut oil 1 teaspoon at a time. Heat it again at half power in the microwave for thirty seconds, then stir. Repeat until the candy melts are smooth but use carefully or the candy can become too oily. I wouldn't recommend using more than 1-2 tablespoons in a full cup of candy melts.
- You can line your pan with aluminum foil, but add a light spray of cooking spray so the caramel doesn't get stuck to the pan.
