Chutney Sandwich Recipe- Indian Style

A chutney sandwich is a simple yet delicious cold sandwich full of tangy, sweet, spicy flavors from the two chutneys used to make it- Green Cilantro-Mint Chutney and Tomato Ketchup. With just 3 main ingredients, this recipe is a perfect appetizer for any day.

Ingredients

  • 15 slices atta bread
  • 1 cup tomato ketchup
  • 1 cup green chutney
  • 1 cup Amul Butter

  1. Gather bread slices, your choice of chutney If you want to add fresh veggies- cucumber slices, tomato, onion, mashed potato, or paneer, and seasonings like chaat masala, cumin powder, kala namak, or black pepper.
  2. Lay out the bread slices on a clean surface and spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice.Spread a generous layer of the green chutney on the second slice of bread. Place it on the top of the first slice to make a pair. On the top of this pair, apply tomato ketchup. Place another slice that has butter, and put it over this pair. It makes a tri-slice sandwich or Tiranga sandwich.
  3. Use a sharp knife to cut the sandwiches diagonally or into desired shapes. Arrange them on a plate and serve immediately as a snack or light meal. Enjoy your delicious chutney sandwiches!

Notes

  • Make sure that the butter is at room temperature and soft enough to be easily spread.
  • If making in winter, take out the butter from refrigerator a night before. In summers, 2-3 hrs before making it is sufficient.
  • Store the leftovers in an airtight container with lid at room temperature (consume same day) or in the refrigerator for about 2 days.
