Ingredients
- 3 citrus fruits lemon, orange, or blood orange
- About 2 cups vodka depending on your container size
Instructions
- Wash off the fruits very well then peel the top layer off each of them without getting too much of the pith (the bitter white part of the fruit).
- Place the peels in a jar and cover completely with vodka.
- Store at room temperature for 1 month, then strain out the peels.

Notes
- Storage: Store homemade citrus extract in a cool, dry place for up to 6 months.
- This recipe makes 3 (6-ounce) containers.
- When getting the peel from the fruit, try not to get any of the pith. This will give you the best-tasting extracts without any bitterness.
- Make sure the vodka covers the peel when you add it to the jar.
