Ingredients

Crumble Topping
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter cut into ¼" squares
Apple Filling
  • 4 medium granny smith apples about 4 ½ cups chopped
  • 1/3 cup spiced apple cider
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter cut into ¼" squares
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray an 8" square baking dish with nonstick baking spray, and set aside.
  2. If you haven't already, peel the apples and core them. Chop into bite-sized pieces.
  3. In a medium-sized glass bowl, combine the brown sugar, chopped pecans, cinnamon and flour. Stir until combined.
  4. Use your hands to cut the butter into the sugar mixture, working the butter into the sugar mixture until it resembles wet sand.
  5. In a large glass bowl, measure out the chopped apples and add the cider. Toss.
  6. Add the sugar, flour and cinnamon, stirring until combined.
  7. Add the butter, tossing until combined.
  8. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Evenly top the apple mixture with the crumble.
  10. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping has browned and the apple mixture is bubbling.
  11. Enjoy warm with a scoop of your favorite ice cream and/or homemade whipped cream.

Notes

  • How to store leftovers: Store in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • How to change up the flavors of this recipe: If you love pumpkin spice, swap the cinnamon for that! You can do the same thing with apple pie spice. Use the same amount in both the crumble and apple filling.
