Classic Creamed Spinach

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter salted
  • 1 pound baby spinach
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated

Instructions

    Cup of Yum
  1. Heat a large skillet with lid over medium-high heat. Add in butter and melt.
  2. Add in spinach leaves. Cover with lid and let spinach wilt, 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Once spinach is wilted, add in garlic and flour and toast 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Liquid should thicken immediately upon simmering.
  5. Turn off the heat and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir in parmesan cheese until melted, or serve with parmesan cheese sprinkled on top.
